About my writing...

It all started with a conversation about a book.

We've all had them.  Those of us who love to read, usually share a good book with a friend who reads.  A very good friend of mine, Camela, was reading the same series I was.  We both love paranormal romance, and we'd been searching for a good series after fininshing the "Twilight" books.  The particular stories we were reading had some great twists on the vampire theme, but the author really didn't have a handle on the romance.  Her characters were a little flat.

I made the comment that I could write a better romantic scene, Camela challenged me, and the rest is history.  I wrote my first scene about a kiss - the scene in SOUTHERN COMFORT when Banton kisses Chandler under the oak tree on the LSU campus, and tells her he's in love with her.

The rest is history.  One scene lead to another, and with Camela's encouragement, I finished SOUTHERN COMFORT - Chandler's Story, my first novel,  four months later. The minute I finished, I missed the characters...so I started book II immediately.  I never even edited the second, I just kept writing.  Book III wrote itself.  Writing was the greatest outlet I'd ever experienced!  If I had a bad day, I could pour it out on my laptop.  If I was lonely, I could bleed through the keys.  Meanwhile, I let a couple of friends and my cousin Dori read the first book.  I hadn't even thought about trying to publish it until I got a text from Dori.

"This is a book I would buy!"

She gave me the confidence I needed, so I got down to business.  I joined some writer's groups on line, began following other authors, and suscribed to Writer's Digest.  I found the task of writing query letters much harder than writing the novels. Over 50 rejections and three years later, I've finished four manuscripts, started on a fifth, built my own website and author page on Facebook, and self-published my first book, SOUTHERN COMFORT.  I continue to seek an agent, but for now I decided to share my first book and build an audience.

I hope you love Chandler, Banton, John and Everett as much as I have loved writing them.  I love feedback, so feel free to leave me a message!  Love to all...
